In December 2024, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors approved funding to acquire two historic properties in Buckland: the Ned Distiller House, dating to circa 1810, and the adjoining Ashe Property, dating to circa 1800. Located within the Buckland Historic Overlay District, the properties represent an important part of the village’s architectural and cultural history. The Ned Distiller House is particularly significant as the home of Ned Distiller, a free African American property owner in early 19th-century Buckland.
